What Your Child Will Learn
There is no better way to learn how to interact with peers than to practice with other children day in and day out. Preschool Friends is a safe place for your child to learn how to make friends and to be a good friend. She will be immersed in a small community of familiar children and will have the direct support of a teacher who knows her well. The low teacher:child ratio of 1:5 will provide many valuable, guided opportunities during the day to practice being patient and empathetic, playing cooperatively, and resolving conflicts. Using the skills she has learned, your child will be ready and eager to make friends when she enters Kindergarten.
Rigbee’s deliberately simple, uncluttered, screen-free environment will give your child’s imagination room to run wild. Open-ended art activities, unstructured play, role-playing, outdoor time, and read alouds are top priorities in the Preschool Friends program. I believe in giving children lots of space to form their own thoughts and make their own decisions. Your child will not come home with a fancy teacher-directed art project, but instead, you will pick up a child who exudes life, has stories to tell, and probably has muddy shoes - all signs of a day well-spent.
Preschool Friends provides the perfect space for children to gently and gradually gain confidence and independence before they enter the larger setting of a Kindergarten classroom. We will work on basic skills such as dressing independently, using the toilet (if they are not already toilet trained) and tidying up after themselves. Children will be encouraged to take responsibility for their environment by working as a team to help prepare lunch, tend to the balcony garden, and repair and organise toys. You will undoubtedly see your child mature from her time at Preschool Friends as their self-control, persistence, patience, and risk-taking muscles are strengthened.
Preschool Friends is a high-quality program, located in Caledon, that prepares preschoolers for Kindergarten. Under the guidance of an Ontario-certified teacher, your child will learn social skills, stretch their imaginations, and become more independent.
Preschool Friends is for children ages 3 - 5. (Children just shy of 3 may attend as long as they turn 3 during the term in which they are enrolled.) The program is useful for children who are going to enter JK the following year or for current Kindergarten students who may not be ready to attend a large classroom full-time. The maximum teacher to child ratio at Preschool Friends is 1:5.
